Why see Million Dollar Quartet?

WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN' GOING ON!

Featuring an incredibly talented cast who all play and sing their instruments live, this musical gives you the chance to witness the birth of the greatest rock 'n' roll band that never was. After a successful Broadway run, Million Dollar Quartet is touring the country and playing in both London and Chicago, the latter production becoming the city's longest running musical. WHAT IS MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET ABOUT?

On a cold and wet December night in 1956, four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest recording sessions ever. You may have heard of them - they were Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, between them making up the eponymous "million dollar quartet". Not an easy feat back in the Fifties!

This impromptu jam session would become the basis of musical legend, four icons of the rock 'n' roll era together singing and recording in one room for the first and only time. Fortunately for the rest of us, the sound engineer who was working at the time was smart enough to press 'record'. And thanks to this quick-thinker, we have the chance to re-imagine the goings-on in that studio.

MDQ brings that legendary night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, That's All Right, Sixteen Tons, Great Balls of Fire, Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, Who Do You Love?, Matchbox, Folsom Prison Blues, Hound Dog and many, many more. If you're a classic rock fan, this is the one musical you simply cannot afford to miss.

A CRASH COURSE IN ROCK 'N' ROLL

Million Dollar Quartet is not just about the music. The songs are all laced together with stories and anecdotes from the famous foursome and the manager of Sun records, Sam Phillips. The show acts as a mini-history lesson about the birth of rock 'n' roll, and the wider social changes that were afoot at the time.

DID YOU KNOW?

The four members of the quartet all had a brother who died before them.

amazing music

Saw the Boston show last night and was so impressed. Each of the performers played their role so well and the musical talent was amazing. The casting was 100% on target, and as an Elvis fan, I was entranced by Tyler Hunter's performance. He has all the moves, his hair was perfect and his voice captivated me. I highly recommend this show. ... Read more

Million Dollar Quartet

This is the second time that I have gone to see the million dollar quartet, I was so impressed both times by the talent and story I would happily go see it again! The performers at the metropolis in Arlington heights July 12th were extremely talented, entertaining and wonderful at drawing the crowd in! The only thing I wished they would have done was at the end announce the drummer "fluke" Brian Johnson did a wonderful job and needed to come out and take a bow! ... Read more
